THE POLICE in Kumasi are holding in their custody an 18-year-old boy suspected of robbery and rape.
Jeff Appiah was said to be part of a two-man gang that allegedly stormed a pastor’s house and took away phones and money at gunpoint. Appiah and his accomplish (still at large), allegedly raped the pastor’s daughter in the presence of her father, adding salt to injury.
Police, acting on intelligence, managed to arrest Appiah, who is currently assisting the law enforcement agents in their investigations.
This disclosure was made to the media on Thursday by Chief Supt. Peter Baba, the Ashanti Regional Police Crime Officer.
According to him, Appiah and his colleague robber, allegedly wielding locally manufactured pistol, broke into the pastor’s house at Dompoase/Kumwai.
He said that the two robbers invaded the pastor’s residence around 2:21 am on May 5, and took away three mobile phones and an amount of GH¢70.
The police were informed about the case so they started investigating the matter until they finally nabbed Appiah at his hideout at Atonsu/Kuwait on May 8.
Chief Supt. Baba stated that the police were still investigating the matter as efforts were being made to arrest the other suspect.
