The Member of Parliament (MP)-elect for Akuapem-South Constituency, Osei Bonsu Amoah has thanked God for giving him victory in the general elections.

Jubilant New Patriotic Party (NPP) faithful, chiefs and the clergy converged on the Assembly Hall of the Presbyterian Women’s Training College in Aburi for the thanksgiving service during which intercessory prayers were said by interdenominational churches for the nation and some personalities.

Streams of Life Ministry prayed for the Akuapem-South MP-elect, the Assemblies of God Church prayed for NPP presidential candidate and party’s leadership while Church of Pentecost interceded for the nation.

The Presbyterian Church prayed for God to take Ghanaians safely through the Christmas festivities to end the hectic 2012.

It was all joy at the Assembly Hall of the Presbyterian Women’s Training College in Aburi as NPP supporters, who were clad in party T-shirts with the portraits of O.B. Amoah and Nana Akufo-Addo, danced to their favourite gospel tunes.

In a sermon, Rev. K. Philips said it was important to give thanks to God in all circumstances, saying “God is omniscient and omnipotent” who makes all things possible.

He prayed for God’s protection for O.B. Amoah and requested the Almighty to lead the Akuapem-South MP in Parliament.

“I pray for God’s protection and blessings upon you and no evil plan against you shall succeed,” Rev. Philip indicated.

Akuapem-South MP-elect O.B. Amoah said he decided to give thanks to God because the Almighty made his victory possible.

He conveyed Nana Akufo-Addo’s congratulatory message to party supporters and commended them for working hard during the general elections.

“Nana Akufo-Addo has asked me to congratulate all of you for your hard work throughout the elections. He appreciates your invaluable contribution to the cause of NPP for which the Almighty will richly bless you,” O.B. Amoah told NPP supporters.

The leadership of the NPP, he stressed, rejected the outcome of the 2012 presidential election, which was declared by the Electoral Commission (EC), Chairman, Dr. Kwadwo Afari-Gyan on December 9, 2012 because it did not reflect the will of Ghanaians.

Afari-Gyan declared the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate President John Dramani Mahama as winner in the just-ended polls with 50.7 percent, giving his closest opponent, Nana Akufo-Addo of NPP 47.74 percent.

However, the NPP, which rejected the results, insisted that some electoral figures were willfully doctored by EC’s surrogates to give President Mahama the victory.

The current Aburi/Nsawam MP gave the assurance that the NPP’s leadership would soon seek legal redress to guarantee the will of Ghanaians in the December elections.
