rLG Distributes ‘Better Ghana’ Laptops

Hon Sherry Ayitey presents a laptop to a beneficiary

Hundreds of people including students of senior high schools, training colleges, polytechnic and university in the Volta region trooped to the Ho Polytechnic to receive ‘Better Ghana’ laptops.

The laptops were distributed free of charge by the Ministry of Environment, Science and Technology under the ‘Better Ghana’ Laptop Project, which aims at promoting research and innovation through ICT.

Under the project, individuals apply to the ministry for the laptops while institutions are assigned the laptops after needs assessment.

Minister for Environment, Science and Technology, Sherry Aryeetey, who led the campaign, said government was determined to position the students, educational and research institutions to partake in the transformation agenda.

He cautioned against misuse of the laptops by beneficiaries.

Deputy Volta Regional Minister, Henry Ametefe, commended government for including 170 basic schools, saying it would go a long way to enhance academic performance.

He dispelled rumours that the laptops were inducement meant for political purposes and urged beneficiary students to disregard such assertions.

Similar distributions took place in the Northern, Upper East and West and Central regions.
