THE FOUNDER and Presiding Bishop of Upper Room Assembly, Bishop Beatrice Djandu Hedidor has called on politicians not to incite the youth to engage in bloodshed as the country prepares for the December 2012 elections.

She called on political leaders to set good examples as they embarked on their nationwide campaigns.

Bishop Hedidor, who was a member of the late President Mills’ prayer warriors’ team at the Upper Room Assembly in Tema, implored the youth to shun politicians who would approach them with attractive goodies to convince them to cause mayhem.

“Let me strongly appeal to the youth who might be hired by some politicians during political activities to engage in acts that might cause mayhem such as stealing of ballot boxes, creation of confusion at polling stations, among others to be wary of such politicians,” he said.

The church founder noted that the duty of national leaders was to engage in healthy political activities devoid of inflammatory speeches, tension and violence.

In an interview with a section of the media at her office after her church’s ‘Annual Abundant Grace’ fasting and prayer event, Bishop Hedidor said “if all Christians continuously pray and intercede for peace; Ghana will come out from the polls unscathed.”

According to her, the future was bright for the youth who would adhere to God’s rules and called for the maintenance of peace before, during and after the general elections.

She however warned the media to be cautious with their reportage during this election period noting that “the religious groups will continue to intercede but if the media do not play their positive nation building role through healthy reportage, one very dangerous and malicious news report could cause serious disorder.”
