Joy FM, a subsidiary of the Multimedia Group Limited, has presented a cheque for GHÂ˘10,090 to the Ayawaso Mutual Health Insurance (AMHI) as premium for 1,400 less privileged individuals in the society.
The symbolic presentation of the cheque to the AMHI will enable the beneficiaries, homeless and street persons who do not have health coverage, to have access to free medical care.
Max Fugar, Head of Sales and Marketing, Group Radio, said the presentation of the cheque was in fulfillment of the promise Joy FM made during the Easter Soup Kitchen, held in April 2012.
He said the company decided to take the event beyond providing food and entertainment to provide an expanding range of services like free health screening and registration with the national health insurance scheme. These measures, he said, would help participants have access to medical care after the Easter Soup Kitchen.
â€śIt shows how committed we are and it is not going to end here we will find other ways and means of sustaining the scheme,â€ť he said.
Some of the beneficiaries, Mbo Salifu, a resident of New Town, and Safiatu Abu, a head porter (Kayayoo) at Malata Market, expressed their appreciation to Joy FM for giving them a foundation for free medical care.
â€śWe want to say thank you to Joy FM for what they have done for us,â€ť they said.
