2012 PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo-Addo, has called on Christians to continue to pray for the peace and stability of Ghana to remain intact, before, during and after the December elections.
He said he had every confidence that “the Ghanaian people, peaceful as they are, will conduct themselves in a manner that will leave Ghana a better place after December.”
The NPP leader made these comments Sunday when he joined the Methodist Church in Elubo to worship with them.
Nana Addo said, “I also request you to pray to God to touch the hearts of the officials of the Electoral Commission and all state agencies responsible for the conduct of our elections to ensure that the process will be open, free, fair and transparent.”
He added, “that way when the results are declared, the winner will know he’s won and the loser will admit that the people indeed did not vote for him.”
Nana Addo also appealed to the congregation to remember him in their prayers so the Almighty God will continue to give him wisdom, courage and compassion to be able to discharge his duties to the satisfaction of Ghanaians.
Nana Addo said he was Foreign Minister when the Ivorian crisis started and therefore saw for himself the consequences violence can have on a country and its people.
He added that the peace of Ghana is very dear to him and he will do everything to make sure it is maintained.
The NPP leader said it was important for development and real growth to be restored to Ghana and this will require that the incompetent and corrupt government of the NDC is retired peacefully in December.
The pastor, Rev Samuel Appiah, on behalf of the congregation thanked Nana Addo for coming to worship with them.
He said Nana Addo’s prayer requests were all very important and tasked the members to continuously pray about them.
The NPP leader then continued to tour the Jomoro constituency with his ‘hope restoration’ campaign.
He visited communities such as Anwiafutu, Tikobo, Nuba, Mangyea, Takinta, Bonyere, Nawule and Benyin.
A mammoth rally was held at Half Assini to end the day’s tour. Nana Addo, at the rally, outlined his vision to expand and modernize the Ghanaian economy to create more sustainable jobs for the youth and people of Ghana.
He also reiterated his commitment to providing free senior high school education for all.
