The hotly awaited list of the 2012 Nominees for the first ever Ghana DJ Awards has been released through the award’s website www.ghanadjawards.com.

Over 60 names would be announced within 20 categories covering major music genres in Ghana from highlife to reggae, as well as Scratch DJ of the Year, Popular DJ of the Year, Artist DJ of the Year, amongst other exciting categories.

This year, courtesy Scratch Studios and its international affiliates, the ultimate Ghanaian DJ would scoop a prize package of GH¢20, 000 including a return trip to London.

Produced by Merqury Republic, The Ghana DJ Awards is Ghana’s first honours exclusively highlighting, recognizing and awarding Radio, Mobile and Club DJs and MCs for their immense contribution to national development through entertainment.

The annual award show would celebrate and honour Ghana’s biggest beat droppers and favourite club MCs both home and overseas and would be a breathtaking spectacle this year.

Nominations for the Public and Industry categories were conducted in two tiers. In the first round, nominees who met the eligibility criteria were selected from the submissions by a panel of music industry professionals, generally representative of the Ghanaian music sectors; music media specialists, music artistes, promoters and disk jockeys themselves.  To be eligible for nomination, DJs had to be publicly recognized in their respective categories as listed on the online voting directory unless otherwise specified per individual category.

The second round voting would commence to the general public on August 1 2012 by way of online registration at www.ghanadjawards.com.

Short code voting would commence from August 10th, 2012, where voting registrants could vote for their favourite nominees as many times as they wished via the text short code on the mobile network and online.  Text voting would close at 23.59 hours GMT on September 7th, 2012.
