Clara Price Wins Lipton Open Golf

Clara Price and P. K. Amenyo were winners of the main event of the 3rd anniversary golf championship hosted by the Tema Country Golf Club at Tema at the weekend.

Whilst Amenyo won the men’s game with a fine five under par 67net, Clara similarly outplayed three others with  a huge 81net, namely Jessica  Tei and Adelaide Owusu Adjapong both  with 85net apiece and Esi Cobbinah 89net respectively in the ladies section.

Clara again walked away with another prize in the ladies event.

F. Akufo beat E. K. Ocansey on count back for the runner-up position, both having returned the course par score of 72net each, S. K. Ayornu who similarly beat Ernest Opoku both on 73net and ex-club captain Alex Y Fiagome 74 net.

Isaac Awuni beat K Arkaah for the men’s play with a count back score of 67 net apiece or five under the course par.

P. Galley 79net beat A. Conteh 81net  in the ladies ‘B Group’ encounter with resident pro Victor Brave Mensah winning the  professional encounter with 146 gross over  two days  ahead of Vincent Torgah, John  Mawuli  and E K Osei all with 149 gross each, Francis Torgah 153 gross and Baba Akorlogo finishing 6th  in that order.

Club captain Dr Paul Owusu-Baah in a welcome address commended Unilever for successfully sponsoring the club’s bi- monthly medal activities which has helped the club in changing its profile especially in transforming its browns to greens.

He said what began as a bi-monthly has improved the relationship between Unilever and Tema Country Club.

Brands Manager of Lipton, Francis Afoani on behalf of the sponsors, Unilever, expressed appreciation over the huge turnout for the competition dubbed, ‘Lipton’s Open Golf’.

He congratulated participants for the flawless execution of the tournament and the previous editions, saying, “To date we have sponsored 71 competitions with patronage going up from 52 to 75, an increase of about 30%. This is a positive sign of how Lipton is supporting golf”.
