THE AUSTRALIAN Ambassador to Ghana, William Billy Williams has been honoured by the Queenmother of Assin Fosu, Nana Appiatua IV for his contribution towards the area’s development.

The ceremony was attended by hundreds of people including politicians, opinion leaders, chiefs and men of God.

Addressing a mini durbar, the ambassador thanked the queen mother, who is also the Nyinfahemaa of Assin Fosu Traditional Council for the honour done him.

He said he after being in the country for the past four years he had come to appreciate the sociableness of Ghanaians.

Mr. Williams therefore expressed happiness about the rich Ghanaian culture and urged Ghanaians to protect their culture instead of following the western culture.

The ambassador encouraged Ghanaians to support each other since the heart of every nation depended on its people.

Mr. Williams noted that the country had a close relationship with Australia and assured of a commitment to the partnership to promote effective development for both countries.

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin North, Kennedy Agyapong called for cooperation between the two countries, adding that the area had a lot of natural resources that investors could take advantage of.

“We have the men who can partner you to invest in so many areas so try to tell your people to come and establish businesses here and they will never regret it,” he said.

Mr. Agyapong revealed that though he may leave politics his business will be there forever and consequently pleaded with the local youth to take advantage of the natural resources available in the area.

He advised king makers to always install chiefs and queen mothers who can bring total development to the people and not those who will plunder their resources.
