The Brong Ahafo Regional Manager of Zoomlion, Kofi Sekyere Boateng has called on workers of Zoomlion Limited who want to engage in active politics to quit their job instead of using working hours to campaign for politicians as the December elections draw closer.
“Zoomlion is owned by a private person and not a politician or political party so if any worker is seen actively engaging in politics during working hours he or she should count him or herself out of the company.
If you want to continue working with Zoomlion you have to forget about party politics,” he indicated.
Mr. Boateng was speaking at a day’s workshop in Sunyani to equip Zoomlion drivers to drive safely to avoid unnecessary accidents.
He warned them against over speeding, saying “the trucks are heavy so if you over speed the brakes might fail you which can lead to an accident.
The Zoomlion Manager expressed worry over the way in which some drivers refuse to collect rubbish in various areas to the displeasure of the residents.
He disclosed that each office in the district would keep a book which the drivers would sign when they report to work, adding that any driver who refuses to report to work without tangible explanation would be sanctioned.
Speaking to the drivers, Assistant Commander at the Motor Traffic and Transport Union (MTTU), Inspector Oppong Ennin, disclosed that at the end of the first quarter of the year, the Brong Ahafo Region had recorded 158 accidents with 60 deaths and 269 injured.
Inspector Ennin therefore urged the drivers to be cautious and considerate to other road users.
The Brong Ahafo Regional Human Resource Manager of Zoomlion, Gloria Armetepey, in an interview, expressed dissatisfaction with some drivers who use the roads recklessly.
Ms Armetepey, who criticized some drivers that dispose refuse at the previous dumping site, said if the drivers take the education at the workshop seriously, it would go a long way to enhance their output.
