AC Milan chief Adriano Galliani is reportedly furious Sulley Muntari allowed himself to get injured while on holidays, according to soccerway.com.
Sulley suffered a fresh knee injury whilst trying to tackle national team mate Christian Atsu during a game.
Former Ghana striker, Augustine Arhinful who witnessed the unfortunate incident, disclosed that Sulley went in for the tackle while new Black Stars whiz kid Atsu was handling the ball.
The AC Milan enforcer is expected to stay out of the game for about six months after sustaining the pesky injury.
Since the injury, soccer fans have read meanings into what really happened to the player.
A section of soccer fans in Kumasi, the Ashanti regional capital, has even alleged that Sulley’s injury was caused by ‘juju.’
But Arhinful, who was playing on the pitch when the incident occurred, said, “Sulley tried tackling Atsu in a way and got injured in the process.”
Speaking with Joe Lakka on Angel FM, the former Ashantigold FC player said he felt bad for Sulley who had just signed a fresh deal at AC Milan.
According to him, other stars such as Stephen Appiah were also on the field playing when the Sulley injury occurred.
Wishing Sulley a speedy recovery, Arhinful said, “This injury was written even before Sulley was born.”
He therefore urged soccer fans not to read meanings into it and rather pray for Sulley to heal and return to the game soon.
The 27-year-old Ghanaian joined the Serie A giants on loan from Inter during the January transfer window and impressed during the second half of the season.
Indeed, Milan were ready to offer Muntari a two-year contract worth three million euros per season. However, there are reports that the contract offer on the table for Muntari will be 1.3 million euros less than the previously agreed figure.
Milan, who were plagued by injuries last season, were forced to sign Kevin Constant on loan from Genoa as a replacement and, according to Corriere dello Sport, Galliani is enraged by the unexpected but essential extra expenditure.
