The exploded fuel tanker
A premix fuel tanker has exploded at Axim, killing 3 people and injuring more than 25 persons.
According to the Acting Administrator of Axim Government Hospital, Joseph Ayeni, some of the patients must be referred to the Effia Nkwanta Hospital if they are to survive.
Explaining the circumstances surrounding the explosion, he said a generator was being used to provide power for the distribution of pre-mix fuel due to a power outage.
He said the generator, sparked fire resulting in the explosion.
The Fire Service has since been able to put out the blaze.
One of the officers, Edwin Kofi Jerry, who spoke from the scene, said the fire was very intensive and destructive.
He said those affected by the fire were fishermen who were queuing for the supply of premix fuel.
He said investigations will start immediately.
