Student Nurses Chased Out

AUTHORITIES OF the Koforidua Midwives and Nursing Training School have ordered all final year students to vacate the campus and report in August for their professional examination.

A final year student who spoke to the GNA on condition of anonymity, said the school authorities requested them to write a mock examination in preparation of their professional examination in August but they explained that as the main examination was only three months away it would be out of place for them to write the mock exams.

She said “as a result of that we were sent packing from the school and those of us coming from far places are now roaming aimlessly in the Koforidua Township.”

Dr Labi Addo, Deputy Director in Charge of Clinical Care, explained to the GNA that the mock examination was aimed at preparing the students well for the impending examination in August.

He said last year only 21 percent of the students who took part in the examination passed and the school authorities thought it proper to conduct the mock examination to enable them perform better in the coming examination.

Dr Addo argued that since the normal semester had ended and the students were unwilling to write the mock examinations, there was no need for them to be on campus any longer. GNA
